United Arab Emirates (UAE) has the region's first dedicated centre for electronic design and innovation with the opening of the Microelectronics Innovation Centre at Dubai Silicon Oasis (DSO).

With His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum at the helm of Dubai Silicon Oasis, the initiative is building on successful sector specific zones.

The region has been identified as one of the four global technology hot-spots with an expected 15 per cent growth rate in IT spending - and DSO is poised to lead development of the semi-conductor industry in the region (source: International Data Corporation).
